In this Intensive weekend retreat we will explore the Foundation of sustainable Power Exchange and how the various elements can support and feed each other creating a virtually self-sustaining dynamic which meets the needs of those on both sides of the slash. Beyond Leather IV

I cant say enough about the weekend we experienced at Beyond Leather IV in Florida this year. Sir Top and slave bonnie and the Beyond Leather staff put on an absolutely fantastic event each year and every year tops the one before. From the moment we got off the plane and jumped right into the shuttle that was waiting for us, everything just clicked. Im always impressed with the dedication to innovation that is evident in the attention to detail at this conference. When you travel to as many conferences that we have, anything that maximizes the time you can spend doing the fun things and minimizes the time and energy associated with administrivia is refreshing. This year BL unveiled a new registration process that involved pre-registry and barcodes that made registering a breeze. (I hate conference registrations as a rule – after a long flight the last thing I want to do is stand in a forever line and ‘prove’ to someone at the registration desk that Im really Me. I’d rather just send namaste to do it, but registration is one of those things that you have to show govt ID and sign papers with an original signature etc.) I was VERY happy with the BL IV processing – we were able to print out our registration confirmation pages the night before, they scanned the barcodes, and within seconds it seemed, we were on our way up to our rooms with a wonderful presenters basket of munchies and our conference bags and schedules!!! WIN.

Its always good to see old friends again and also this weekend was an excellent opportunity to make new friends as well. Beyond Leather is the conference we recommend to people that do not like to go to conferences. Its fast paced, the classes and seminars are varied and in the evenings they have specialty ‘theaters’ that feature an eclectic mix of happenings ranging from the super intense to the downright hilarious. I wont go into details about the theaters suffice to say that lube+hotness+comedy= you had to be there. MORE WIN.

This was a very busy weekend, but it was actually really relaxing at the same time. We taught three classes – Practical Protocols and Rituals, Power Exchange and Authenticity, and Pressure Point Play. Each class was full and the conversations and feedback we received from the participants indicated that everyone had a great time and enjoyed the subjects presented. Also on Saturday night, I was honored to present the keynote address for a standing room only Beyond Leather IV audience and after the keynote, played a role in the Interrogation Theater which was a TON of fun

And somewhere along the way we also managed to also enjoy watching an assortment of ponies, puppies, fetishists of all assortments, a number of excellent classes (really enjoyed predicament bondage by Lew Rubens), Taiko Drumming, delicious food and drinks, spent some time at the Ramrod enjoying libations and cigars with our dear Bootblack Blast AND we still managed to enjoy one of the multiple Beyond Leather dungeons.

After all of that, I expected to be totally exhausted by the time we got back to Austin – and we were. But it was an excellent weekend overall and we are already looking forward to Beyond Leather V which is going to blow the roof off the hotel, Im thinking. See you there!!!

Why we missed Ms/C

Because we have received many questions and concerns about our last minute lack of attendence at M/sC and to prevent any speculation or rumors (as our Beloved Community tends to do) -

My Masters brother is very ill with cancer. This is a battle he has been fighting for the last 6 years. Recently he took a turn for the worse and was in need of a stem cell transplant. Master was the only match. This necessitated repeated trips from Austin TX to a hospital over 2 hours away over the last month and a half. 3 weeks ago Master donated the stem cells – a procedure which was extraordinarily painful and required a hospital stay. Less than 2 days after the procedure Master and i flew to attend 2 conferences on the east coast as we had commited to do. Having been advised by His physician to take it easy for 3-4 weeks (and that it takes roughly 4-6 weeks for His body to replenish the marrow they removed from Him), Master was called back to Houston to donate white blood cells. This was again another 2 days at the hospital for Master. The week of M/sC – less than one week later – Master was again called back to the hospital to donate white blood cells. This conflicted with M/sC – however nothing could be done and it was not something that could wait until Tuesday.

Since then the prognosis has been good for His brother, he’s improved greatly and will likely be released from the hospital later this week. We anticipate continued recovery and health for him. After having a back ache for 2.5 weeks due to the procedure and being extremely fatigued - Master is *finally* beginning to feel like Himself again. We look forward to continuing to serve our community. We hope to see some of you at Twisted in Tulsa this weekend, at Folsom Fringe the end of this month or another conference in the near future!! I believe its important that we both know what’s going on with respect to what I want as Master (in terms of exercising control and dominance in her direction) and on her side, she needs to understand what my expectations are with respect to her responses and activities. Both Master and slave watch this ‘intersection’ of wills very intently, because similarly to an actual traffic intersection, the speed and rate of the traffic flow in either direction can vary widely. What is paramount is that we have the structure in place so we do not have collisions in the intersection. There is a call and response to the M/s dynamic – and ebb and flow that in many ways is not unlike a dance. The Master and the slave together – Dominance requires a response of surrender or submission. Control requires a response of obedience. At the intersection of the wills of the Master and slave or Dominant and submissive – each must know the rules of the road so to speak to avoid catastrophic collisions that ultimately give neither the pleasure that they seek from the experience of opening themselves to this shared level of authenticity..and vulnerability. The operative word here is pleasure. It pleases me to be in control. It pleases my slave to be under that control and to respond to it….” More at Renaissance Master

NorthWest Leather Celebration 2010

Greetings!

Master and i had the pleasure of attending the NWLC for the first time last weekend. This event was so wonderful and didn’t seem as rushed and hurried as many events we attend. We had the luxury of moving at a bit of a slower pace even though Master was judging the NorthWest M/s 2010 contest. It was wonderful to catch up with some friends, go shopping with Mo (of IMsL 2010 fame) sip champagne and smell the yumminess of Master’s cigars. Ms Margaret and slave erich and their crew put on a great conference. We were picked up at the airport promptly with water waiting for us (it’s the little things when you get in as late as we did and are nearly delirious!) The hotel is lovely (i love sleep number beds, have i mentioned that?) with a rather interesting architectural history. The weather was lovely. The classes were greatly varied with wonderful silent auctions (a must do!) and Great Vendors! The only downside is that the Cafe is smallish with limited offerings but there are lots of fast food places and sushi within walking distance, and pizza places that deliver. We presented “The Alchemy of Compatibility” which went amazing and we got loads of good feedback. Among the “extras” at the conference was a Champagne and Chocolate mixer and a Cigar and Port mixer both by the pool. Can you say yummy??

We had a fabulous time and can’t wait to come back again!!

Beyond Leather III

Greetings,

Today is the first day that i’ve had a moment to sit down and write about this amazing conference that we went to last weekend! Beyond Leather is a fabulous conference that takes place in Fort Lauderdale FL. It is produced by Sir Top and slave bonnie – Southeast M/s 2007.

This was our first time at this particular conference but it was most definitely a treat! There were great classes, wonderful energy, the hotel is fabulous, and the food is phenomenal!!

This conference has it all… classes, dungeon space, lube wrestling, late evening theaters. If you have the opportunity to attend don’t miss it next year!!

A few tips-
DO get the meal package, the food is great and it’s well worth the price, do get tickets to Lube Wrestling – nuff said…LOL

DO take time to attend at least some of the contests and say a big thank you to the Producers (who are very accessible BTW) We need to support our community and those who do so much for it.

It is quite humbling to be asked to compete and we are both looking forward to the challenge!
